Vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref 6564 Circa 1956 is in great, honest vintage condition. The case is in great condition with scratches and normal signs of wear; the case has developed some patina throughout. The numbers between the lugs are clearly visible. The inside caseback is stamped "6564.” The hallmark on the back of the 11 o’clock lug is crisp. The caseback has a personal engraving that reads "Now + Forever Your Loving Wife Lyddia 2-9-'57 – 9-1-'57." The watch has retained its correct “Brevet” style crown. The “Shark Tooth” dial is in overall great condition with some patina throughout and a bit of spotting in the center that can be hard to notice depending on the lighting. The lume plots are all in-tact and have developed patina; they have aged to a lovely rich yellow color. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands has aged to a similar color as the lume on the dial.
This watch has what we believe to be it's original buckle (signed Rolex) that is plated gold and worn-out Rolex branded strap which will come with the watch along with the crystal that was on it.
Rolex has produced countless variations of the Oyster Perpetual over the years, but this one really stands out. It features a striking silver concentric-sunburst dial with elegant gold hardware, giving it a timeless, radiant look. The hour markers are what really set it apart—bold "shark-tooth" markers at 3, 6, and 9, paired with sharp "dagger" or triangular markers at the other positions. This small but distinctive detail transforms the entire feel of the watch, adding a unique edge that makes it especially captivating. We have seen a couple different style "shark tooth" hour markers used by Rolex; ones with the lume set into the hour marker and ones with the lume next to the hour marker like on this example. This makes us think of the star dials that Rolex used on some models.
The 14k gold case has developed a warm, rich patina over time, adding character to the watch. On the caseback, a heartfelt engraving hints at its history—gifted from a wife to her husband. We're especially fond of the vintage font used. At 34mm, this was originally designed as a men's watch, but today it feels perfectly versatile—a beautifully shareable piece for anyone who appreciates vintage style with a story.
