This Submariner is in great, vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is strong with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "5512" which is not uncommon to find in 5513's. We often times see 5512 or 5513's with the mismatched caseback because Rolex would use whatever that had available at the time. The serial and reference numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The bezel insert is in great condition with some wear; the pip has aged and goes well with the dial lume. The dial is in great condition with light patina and light wear that can be hard to notice. The hour markers and hands have developed light patina. The lume on the dial has aged to an attractive off white, creamy color that when looking closely is lighter in the center; something we have seen before. The lume in hands has been color corrected/ relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial; it matches nicely. The 93150 Oyster bracelet, 580 end links, has 11 links and a divers extension link. The clasp is stamped "03" indicating it is from 2003. The bracelet is in great condition with normal signs of wear and a bit of stretch between the bracelet which is not uncommon.
Rolex made the reference 5513 from around 1962 to 1989 and here is a later example from circa 1989. The defining characteristics of these last generation 5513's would be the white gold borders around the hour markers, this is known as "white gold surrounds." This is a characteristic that started in the mid-late 1980s and is still featured on Submariners of this day. These late-80s Submariners offer a great value and are some of the most classic watches out there.
