Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date 40 ref 228235 (2025) is the version of the President that, in many collectors' eyes, finally got the proportions right. Before this, there was the Day-Date II, a 41mm model introduced in 2008 that felt noticeably more robust on the wrist. Some loved the presence, others thought it lost a bit of the classic Day-Date elegance. In 2015, Rolex re-worked the formula with the Day-Date 40, slimming the case profile, refining the bezel and bracelet proportions, and introducing the next-generation caliber 3255. This example is made from 18k Everose gold, Rolex’s proprietary rose alloy designed to hold its color over time. The chocolate brown dial paired with alternating Roman numerals and stick hour markers gives it depth without feeling busy. And of course, all the Presidential hallmarks are here: fluted bezel, 40mm Oyster case, and the exclusive three-link President bracelet.
