Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref 116718 (2005 - 2006) marks a major turning point for the GMT-Master collection. Released to celebrate the model’s 50th anniversary, it introduced the first ceramic Cerachrom bezel ever used on a Rolex GMT. The watch is crafted entirely from 18k yellow gold, with a 40mm case, matching Oyster bracelet, and a black ceramic 24-hour bezel with gold-filled graduations. What truly sets this version apart is the green “Anniversary” dial, a rich shade that immediately made the watch stand out from previous GMTs. Rolex later introduced a black dial option, but the original green dial remains the version many collectors still gravitate toward today. This reference also debuted the larger “maxi” dial layout with broader hands and hour markers for improved legibility. Inside beats the caliber 3186 automatic movement, allowing the wearer to track multiple time zones. After this release, Rolex expanded the ceramic GMT lineup with two-tone and stainless steel models, but the 116718LN was the watch that started the modern era of the GMT-Master II.
