Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master ref. 16700 "Pepsi" (1989) marks the end of an important chapter in Rolex history. As the final reference in the original GMT-Master lineup, it was produced alongside the GMT-Master II for several years before Rolex ultimately retired the original model. During that overlap, the GMT-Master served as the more approachable option, while still delivering the famous styling that had made the collection famous since the 1950s. This example is powered by the caliber 3175 and features the iconic red and blue "Pepsi" bezel insert, whose colors were originally designed to distinguish daytime and nighttime hours when tracking a second time zone. The black dial is decorated with Tritium lume that has aged to a desirable beige patina, adding the warmth and character that vintage Rolex collectors love. As the last of the original GMT-Master watches, the ref. 16700 occupies a unique place in the collection's history. It has classic proportions, vintage charm, and an enduring connection to one of Rolex's most celebrated travel watches.
