Rolex developed the first waterproof wristwatch in the 1920s. Since that time, the company has tirelessly perfected the design of its iconic Oyster waterproof case to offer varying levels of water-resistance. The Sea-Dweller Deepsea holds the title of the most waterproof Rolex watch in production, with water-resistance up to an impressive 12,800 feet. Most will never take their Rolex that far below the surface of the sea. However, one can certainly appreciate the technical prowess required to produce such a resilient watch. To resist the pressures at 3,900 meters deep, the Deepsea includes a Helium Escape Valve, a titanium case back, a thicker sapphire crystal, and a Ring Lock System that takes the pressure off the crystal itself.
