Pre-owned Rolex Daytona ref 16520 (1999) is one of the most important modern vintage Daytonas, marking the era when Rolex transitioned the model into the automatic chronograph collectors know today. Introduced in 1988 and produced until 2000, the ref 16520 is powered by the caliber 4030, a heavily modified version of the Zenith El Primero movement that Rolex refined for durability and precision. This 1999 example of a Rolex Daytona panda features the highly recognizable white dial with black-ringed sub-dials, often called the “panda-style” layout, which gives the watch strong contrast and excellent legibility. The 40mm stainless steel case is paired with the classic engraved steel tachymeter bezel. On the wrist, the ref 16520 feels like the bridge between vintage and modern Daytona design. The Zenith-powered generation comes from a special chapter in Daytona history and remains one of the most sought-after references in the entire lineup.
