The Rolex Submariner Date 5513 was one of the first references in the line to offer a crown guard, proceeded only by its predecessor the reference 5512. When detailing the history of the Rolex Submariner 5513, it’s important to mention the ref. 5512 first as it offers a style that is nearly identical but with a chronometer-rated movement. Both models were produced alongside each other with the 5513 out-producing the 5512, thanks to a lower price point that was made possible by a non-COSC rated movement. The longer production run – approx. twenty years - also equates to a greater availability on the pre-owned Rolex market, making the ref. 5513 relatively affordable and easy to obtain.
The vintage example that is presented here is in exceptional condition for a watch of this age, showing light wear with bevels intact as well as crisp serial and reference numbers. There are a handful of bezel and dial variations available, with this particular Submariner presenting the time on a rare matte “Meters First” dial in a creamy patina. Not only is this variation exceedingly difficult to find, but it also indicates that this is an earlier model 5513. A “Long Five” fat font bezel insert accompanies the rare dial and is characterized by an elongated “5” at the 50 marker, creating a highly desirable feature set.

Fantastic transaction and watch even better than described / pictures. Tanya was great to deal with, easy communication, give her a raise!
Watch shows better then in pictures . Second watch purchased from Bobs since October. Very happy with both experiences . I mistakenly overpaid on the price.of my last purchase. Along with the watch was a check for the overpayment. I feel Bobs as honest and trustworthy. Thanks
Excellent service . Fantastic communication. I couldn’t of asked for more .
The watch was delivered very quickly and was exactly as advertised. They even provided a few vintage pamphlets from the period. All my questions were answered promptly. Overall great experience. I will definitely buy my next Rolex from Bob’s.
The condition of this vintage Rolex 5513 is nicer than I anticipated based on the age. Your staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help make sure I had enough links in the band.
