Used Rolex Submariner 16800
The transitional Submariner ref. 16800 was introduced after the 1680 and is responsible for bringing many important upgrades to the line, including the calibre 3035 self-winding movement with a higher beat of 28,800 bph, a tougher scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and an increased resistance to depths of up to 300 meters/1,000 feet. Similar to many vintage timepieces on the preowned Rolex market, there are many variations of the ref. 16800 to be found that range in degrees of aging and feature set options. The Submariner that you see here today displays the time on a very desirable matte black dial with applied luminous markers and hands filled with Tritium patina lume. The bezel exhibits some signs of wear that are common with an older Rolex, and the pearl that sits at the starting position has since aged to a striking creamy hue.

Watch was in condition as pictured and described. Some major dents and scuffs on the bracelet/end-link were hidden well by the lighting but were very noticeable in person. Overall the watch was in great shape for the age.

I’ve bought multiple modern pieces from Bob’s and had a great experience every time. I’ve been looking to buy a birth year Rolex for awhile now and for me, that’s a late production run 16800. Couldn’t be happier with the watch and for those out there looking for a Sub, you should seriously consider the 16800. It has some great “modern” features, but holds true to a more vintage feel and elegance. Incredibly comfortable on the wrist and will undoubtedly continue to grow in value in my opinion. It’s a can’t miss buy all the way around.
