Vintage Rolex Air-King ref 5500 (1982) is a reminder of what Rolex used to mean by an everyday watch. First introduced in 1945, the Air-King was originally positioned as a simpler, dress-forward alternative within the brand's lineup, long before the modern, sportier direction the model would take decades later with the ref. 116900. This earlier approach is exactly what draws collectors to references like this one. Here, the 34mm stainless steel case wears slim and comfortably, paired with a clean silver "Precision" dial under a vintage acrylic crystal. The Tritium hour markers have aged into a deep patina that adds even more dimension and character to the watch. With its no-date layout and straightforward design, the 5500 has become something of an entry point into vintage Rolex collecting.
