Pre-Owned Watch Condition Examination:
Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master ref 16750 (1984) is in great, honest vintage condition consistent with age. The case is strong with scratches and nicks; the sides of the case appear to have been lightly polished. The red-back bezel has aged nicely over the years. It has some marks, scratches, and nicks throughout, these might be hard to notice depending on the lighting. The blue portion has a rich dark blue/ navy hue and the red is a beautiful raspberry color. The matte dial is in excellent condition with light patina. The lume on the dial and in the hands has aged to an even and consistent lemony-yellow color. The lume on the dial and in the hands match pretty well, depending on the lighting the lume in the hands is a bit stronger yellow. The hands have developed patina which is not uncommon. When looking closely at the hands the lume has developed a bit of dark patina around the edges. The Jubilee bracelet is in great condition with light stretch between the links and some scratches.
Vintage Rolex GMT-Master 16750 Pepsi
Rolex produced the GMT Master 16750 for about 7 years from 1981 to 1988. During that time, the watch became available with either a glossy or matte dial. The glossy variant had white gold-trimmed indices, while the matte edition did not. The latter matte variant, like this example is more desirable and gives the watch a distinctly vintage look. This reference is considered transitional because Rolex upgraded the movement, it now has a quick-set date, but kept the matte dial and acrylic crystal like the previous reference 1675. Rolex also used open 6s and 9s in the date, adding to the vintage charm.
This example is in overall excellent condition and has a striking look from the matte dial to a attractively aged lume. In addition to being a lovely example, this watch comes complete with its full set with punched papers. The papers even have the original caseback sticker stuck on it, a little detail we really love seeing.
We see interest for these matte 16750s increase lately because of the vintage look, but with more modern functionality, the collecting community is waking up to these transitional models. The combination of the "Pepsi" bezel and Jubilee bracelet is so classic.

The watch was just as described, in fact, better than described online. The transaction was simple, secure, and seamless.
This was my first time working with Bob's and the process could not have been better from my perspective. The watch was a gift for my son who enjoys watches...this will be his 6th Rolex. I didn't participate in the conversations but he had several several questions which the staff fully answered. I entered when it was time to settle up. The customer service was great and the watch arrived very quickly. I'm not the the watch enthusiast in the family, but I see no reason why we wouldn't be looking for # 7 with Bob's as well.
