This vintage GMT-Master is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is in great condition with wear, scratches, and nicks. The case appears to be unpolished and the bevels are still visible. The caseback shows some wear. The inside caseback is stamped "1675." The red-backed bezel on this Rolex is in great condition with some scratches and normal wear; the blue has faded a little towards the edge. The matte black dial is on overall excellent condition with light patina. The lume on the dial has developed patina and aged to a lovely pale yellow. The hands are in great condition with patina and the lume in the hands aged to the same color as the lume on the dial. This has a 78360 bracelet with no. 580 end links and 13 links. The clasp is stamped "VB" indicating it's from 1977. The bracelet is in good, honest condition with scratches and wear throughout; it has some stretch between the links which is not uncommon. The bracelet has developed a bit of a sleeve polish over the years and also has some marks that could be removed from a polish (we left it as found). The crown on the clasp is still prominent. The crystal is a service replacement and the watch will come with the one that was on it when we got it.
The GMT-Master is Rolex's signature pilot's watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It's one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because it's instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. Rolex initially used glossy dials in the 1675 until around 1966 and switched to matte dials.
This circa 1978 example is in overall lovely condition and comes from the family of the original owner. The watch comes with it's box, punched papers, and serialized hang-tag which is always a bonus. This watch has what collectors refer to as a Mark 5 dial and the defining characteristic of this is the tall coronet and the placement of the "M" in "Master" over the "C" in chronometer, it divides the C and H.
Finding full-set 1675's in this kind of honest, well preserved condition is getting harder and harder and we are pleased to offer it!

I have worn this watch everyday for 47 years, had it cleaned every 8 or so years, had the bezel replaced with the new one back in the 80s. Paid $400 in Switzerland in 1970. This is the greatest lifetime deal ever!!
