This GMT-Master reference 16753 is in overall great vintage condition. The case is in good condition with light scratches and normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "16750." The numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The brown and gold bezel insert is in great condition with some scratches and normal wear. The dial is in good, attractive condition with some patina; it shows some wear around the hour markers and date window where some of the red underneath is visible, this is not uncommon. The dial has some light hand-drag in the center that can be hard to notice. The lume on the dial has developed patina and aged to a lovely yellow color. The hands are in good condition with some patina; the lume in the hands has been color matched / relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial and they match nicely. When looking closely, the GMT hand has a slight crack. This watch has a 62523H14 bracelet with 20 links and no. 450 end links. The clasp is stamped "E10" indicating it is from 1980. The bracelet is in great condition with normal wear and a bit of stretch between the links; the bracelet appears to have been tightened in the past. The crown on the clasp show signs of a previous polish.
The Rolex 16753 Root Beer GMT Master is the transitional version of the original two-tone GMT. Rolex equipped this watch with the older style "Nipple dial" decorated with Tritium and older style acrylic crystal. At the same time, it also sports an updated high-beat movement with a quickset date, creating a watch with the appeal of a vintage timepiece and a more modern movement. With the popularity of two-tone sport Rolex watches booming, these GMTs offer excellent value. This example is in overall lovely condition and has aged nicely over the years. The dial on this example has almost a burgendy/ wine color adding to the overall character of the watch. Nice vintage Root Beer GMTs are getting harder to find and this is a great chance to pick up a beautiful one.
