The vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Bubbleback" ref. 2940 is a compelling mid-century reference for collectors drawn to the Rolex's earlier evolution of the Oyster case. This 2940 nicknamed "Bubbleback" due to its profile shape and rotor is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is in good condition with scratches, nicks, and signs of wear throughout. The inside caseback is stamped "2940." Serial number and text are clearly visible between the lugs. The crown is period correct with its "Rolex Oyster" text and signs of wear. The dial has developed a patina throughout with some scratches,` spotting and wear along the edge. When looking closely the dial shows some spidering. The lume on the dial and in the hands has developed patina and aged to a similar color. The minute hand has a spot that was patched (partially relumed). This comes on a 17mm leather strap with matching stainless-steel hardware.
