Vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref 6564 Circa 1956 is in good, attractive vintage condition. The case is in great condition with scratches and normal signs of wear. The hallmark on the back of the 11 o’clock lug is clearly visible. The reference number between the 12 o’clock lugs is rubbed and no longer visible and the serial number between the six o’clock lugs shows wear, but is legible. The inside caseback is stamped "6564.” This watch has a later style crown. The “Shark Tooth” dial is in overall attractive condition with patina throughout (one area of note is around 3 o'clock). The lume plots show signs of degradation and have developed patina. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands has aged to a similar color as the lume on the dial.
Rolex has produced countless variations of the Oyster Perpetual over the years, but this one really stands out. The hour markers are what really set it apart—bold "shark-tooth" markers at 3, 6, and 9, paired with sharp "dagger" or triangular markers at the other positions. This small but distinctive detail transforms the entire feel of the watch, adding a unique edge that makes it especially captivating. We have seen a couple different style "shark tooth" hour markers used by Rolex; ones with the lume set into the hour marker and ones with the lume next to the hour marker like on this example. This makes us think of the star dials that Rolex used on some models.
