This 5513 watch is in overall good, attractive vintage condition. The case is strong with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "5512" which is not uncommon to find in 5513's. We often times see 5512 or 5513's with the mismatched caseback because Rolex would use whatever that had available at the time. The bezel insert is in good condition with scratches and normal signs of wear; it has remained black. The dial is in overall good condition; it has developed a fine patina and presents as more matte (hard to notice depending on the lighting). The lume on the dial has aged to an attractive beige, creamy color. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands is white. The bracelet is in good condition with normal signs of wear and stretch between the links. This has a stainless steel 93150 oyster bracelet with 11 links, 580 end links and divers extension. The clasp is marked "L5" indicating it is from 1987. The sides of the clasp show some wear and slight indentations.
Rolex made the reference 5513 from around 1962 to 1989 and here is a later example from circa 1987. The defining characteristics of these last generation 5513's would be the white gold borders around the hour markers, this is known as "white gold surrounds." This is a characteristic that started in the mid-late 1980s and is still featured on Submariners of this day.
