This Submariner is in overall great vintage condition. The case is in great condition with normal signs of wear. Between the lugs the numbers are crisp and visible, while the text above the numbers is worn from the bracelet rubbing against the case over the years. The bezel insert is in great condition and is a later service replacement; there are some scratches and marks throughout. The inside caseback is stamped "5513" and "IV.68." The dial is in overall great condition with light patina and some light wear; it's a tritium dial with service replacement LumiNova hands. Due to the hands being a later replacement, they glow a nice green tone. This watch has a 93150 bracelet with 11 links, no. 501 B end links, and divers extension. The clasp is stamped "P5" indicating it's from 1991. The bracelet is in good condition with some wear and some stretch between the links which is not uncommon.
The Rolex Submariner ref 5513 (Circa 1970) was one of the longest continually produced references from the brand. Rolex initially used glossy dials in this model and swapped to matte around 1966. Rolex switched back to glossy dials in the mid-1980s and added white gold around the hour markers which is a characteristic Submariners still have today. Rolex made many variations of the Submariner and this example was born with a glossy "white gold surrounds" dial with tritium lume but went to Rolex for service and they replaced it with a later Luminova "Swiss only" service dial which looks very similar, but will still glow.
It was very common for Rolex to change and update watches when they come in for routine service and that is exactly what happened to this watch. These all serviced up examples offer a great value and are ideal for daily wearers.
