Pre-owned Cartier Santos Dumont ref WSSA0085. The Cartier Santos is one of the oldest wristwatch designs out there, originally created in 1904 for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Over time, it split into two directions. The Santos de Cartier became the sportier version with a thicker case and bracelet options, while the Santos-Dumont stayed closer to the original. Thinner, more refined, and usually on a leather strap with a simpler profile. This Santos-Dumont ref WSSA0085 is very much in that classic lane. The 32mm “Large” case wears slim and elegant, with the signature square shape and bezel dotted with exposed screws. The beaded crown is set with a blue cabochon, and the silver dial has traditional Roman numerals and blued steel sword-shaped hands. It’s powered by a quartz movement, which helps keep the case thin and easy to wear. It’s a different experience from the standard Santos. Less about everyday sport and more about clean design and proportions.
The watch looked nice in pictures, but was even better in person. For a pre-owned Cartier watch, it almost looks new.
