The Portugieser traces its origins back to the late 1930s, when two Portuguese businessmen asked IWC to develop a wristwatch with the precision of a marine chronometer. The result was a larger, very legible timepiece that would go on to become one of the brand's defining icons. Introduced as part of the updated Portugieser lineup in 2015, the IW5007 preserves that timeless design language while incorporating modern refinements inside and out. The generous case frames a beautifully balanced silver dial with applied blued Arabic numerals, elegant feuille hands, and a classic railroad minute track that has become synonymous with the collection. Running seconds at 9 o'clock are balanced by a seven-day power reserve indicator at 3, while a discreet date display sits at 6. Inside beats the manufacture caliber 52010, featuring IWC's renowned Pellaton winding system with durable ceramic components for enhanced longevity and precision.
