Pre-owned Patek Philippe Nautilus ref 5726/1A-001 (2016). The Patek Philippe Nautilus has been one of the defining luxury sports watches since its debut in 1976, designed by Gérald Genta at a time when steel watches were just starting to be taken seriously at the high end. What began as a bold, unconventional watch has evolved into one of the most sought-after collections in modern watchmaking. In 2006, Patek refreshed the entire Nautilus line for its 30th anniversary, setting the stage for a new generation, including the 5726, introduced in 2010 as the first steel Nautilus to feature an annual calendar complication.
This 2016 Nautilus ref 5726/1A-001 captures that balance between sport and complication. The 40.5mm steel case has the familiar porthole-inspired design, while the dial layout makes room for the day and month apertures at 12 o’clock and a date paired with a moonphase and 24-hour display at 6. It’s clean, but more involved than the time-only models. Inside is the automatic caliber 324 with an annual calendar module, accurate enough to require adjustment only once a year. While later models introduced the blue gradient dial in 2019, this earlier grey dial execution still carries the same versatility that made the 5726 such a prized collector's item.
