The first serially-produced Rolex to feature a rotatable timing bezel was the Datejust Turn-o-Graph. This model was released in the early 1950s and precedes other more well-known tool watches, such as the Submariner and GMT Master, and is a popular collector's item among avid preowned Rolex collectors. The ref. 16263 is a handsome two-tone example of the line that presents the case and bracelet in stainless steel and 18 karat yellow gold. It's also worth noting that the Turn-o-Graph always presents the timing bezel in precious metal, with this particular ref. 16263 showcasing a striking yellow gold variant. Also known as the "Thunderbird", the Turn-o-Graph was a military-issued watch that was given to the pilots of the US Air Force's Thunderbird aerobatic team, making it an intriguing piece of both watchmaking and US history.
