The Rolex Datejust Turn-o-graph, or Thunderbird, was released in 1953 and was the brand's very first timepeice to offer a rotatable timing bezel. It earns its nickname from the US Air Force's aerobatic team the "Thunderbirds", who were given the timepiece to wear during their flights. The secondhand Rolex 16263 is a two-tone variant that was among a handful of references to replace the long-running ref. 1625 in the late 1970s. Its feature set includes a higher-beat calibre 3135 perpetual movement and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The time is displayed on a white dial set with a black railroad chapter ring, yellow gold index hour markers and hands, a date mechanism at the 3-hour marker, and a Rolex logo at the 12-hour marker.
