Back in 2023, Oris launched a green dial watch surprisingly inspired by Kermit the Frog. The Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition was a great success with its good looks, solid tool watch persona, and verdant personality. Personally, I also really appreciate the idea of a monthly “Kermit Day”: Kermit appears in the date window on the first of every month in this delightful watch.
Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition
Kermit, who may not find it so easy to be green, certainly spreads a lot of joy with his unusual presence, helping every owner of this watch start the month with a great big smile.
And perhaps the best part of this very wearable 39 mm titanium case is that it is powered by Oris ProPilot X Caliber 400, the Oris in-house automatic caliber with a five-day power reserve. That definitely feels very grown-up and responsible, even though, as Oris said at the time, the main goal of this watch was to bring joy.
Oris ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition
In early 2025, it became obvious that Oris probably had an agreement to use a whole range of Muppets, an entity now owned by the Disney corporation.
The second timepiece, also from the ProPilot collection, is different from the first. The most obvious change is its hot pink dial punctuated with a baguette-cut lab-grown diamond marker at 12 o’clock. Secondly, it comes in a 34 mm stainless-steel case, simultaneously marking the first stainless-steel case in the ProPilot X line, which until then had been all titanium.
Importantly (and perhaps disappointingly for the porcine diva), Miss Piggy was relegated to the back of the case to make way for the hot pink and diamond countenance–there is no date window on this model. Miss Piggy’s likeness is placed on the movement’s automatic rotor, which occasionally comes to rest with the glamorous Muppet peering out the very small glass window in the stainless-steel case back.
Because of the smaller size of this watch, it is powered by this Oris line’s first non-manufacture movement, Sellita-based Caliber 531.
Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition
While those were both really fun models, the Great Gonzo has now received the special Oris treatment. Launching during Geneva Watch Days 2026, Oris pays tribute to this particular Muppet, perhaps surprising many who thought a more famous Muppet like Oscar the Grouch or the Swedish Chef could be the next in line.
I love the surprise of choosing Gonzo, and I love that the watch attributed to him is completely different than both the Kermit and Piggy models. In fact, it is as wild in its looks as Gonzo is in his character. (Just a shame that he didn’t wear one during his recent appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show, also a very inspired choice for musical director Chris Martin.)
The Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition originates from the timepiece first introduced in 2019: the skeletonized ProPilot X in titanium. In early 2025, Oris also introduced the ProPilot X Calibre 115 Year of the Snake. The Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition is the third watch featuring Caliber 115, and it is a beautiful one.
Coming in a 44 x 12.5 mm Grade 2 titanium case on a titanium bracelet, this is an Oris tool watch through and through, featuring a crown guard to protect the screw-down crown and a fluted bezel in a harder Grade 5 titanium. The Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition is water-resistant to 100 meters and can thus withstand pretty much anything daily life has to dish out, and then some.
But it is this watch’s kaleidoscopic visuals that are the most striking, starting with the multicolored skeletonized dial. A rainbow of blue, red, and yellow decorates the openworked dial bits, while a red chili replaces the regular hand of the 10-day power reserve indicator, which advertises “10 Great Days” to its wearer (a callback to this Muppet’s stage name, The Great Gonzo). The chili hand recalls Gonzo’s yellow shirt covered in a chili pepper pattern.
The element that I think is the most fun is the Gonzo face laser-engraved on the mainspring, which is visible through the open spring barrel, and you can really only see it if you know where to look. Also, if the power reserve is low, Gonzo will disappear until the owner winds the watch again; he is only visible when 10 “great” days’ worth of power are stored.
Oris Caliber 115
Manufacture Caliber 115 powers this watch. It is somewhat visible from the front and fully visible from the flip side through the sapphire crystal case back.
Designed and developed by independent manufacturer Oris, this movement is derived from Caliber 110, which came out in honor of Oris’s 110th anniversary in 2014. It is the first openworked manufacture caliber at the Hölstein, Switzerland-based manufacture, and it is dominated by the enormous 1.8-meter-long spring barrel providing 10 full days (240 hours) of power reserve. As it is a hand-wound movement, it allows the owner to spend quality time with it, but only every 10 days, of course.
Asked why Caliber 115 was chosen to power this watch, Oris head designer Lukas Bühlmann said, “Immediately, you’re dealing with a really unusual watch. The base design is very monochromatic, too, which gave us a palette for bold color experimentation. Gonzo is very outgoing when it comes to fashion, and a color gradient that shifts from blue to red to yellow is so him.”
Caliber 115 is a high-quality, technical, and very pragmatic piece of watchmaking that neatly fits into the Oris concept with its workhorse ideals and no-frills finishing choices. It was a great choice to use this for the Gonzo timepiece on a few different levels. One is, of course, the bold look.
While the Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition is not a limited edition per se, this watch with a five-year warranty will only be available for a limited amount of time.
