Important Figures in Watch History: Rihanna

Rihanna is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time with 250-million records sold worldwide. She also has nine Grammy Awards, twelve American Music Awards and twelve Billboard Music Awards under her belt. And if that wasn’t enough for this Barbadian native, she’s also a savvy businesswoman, makeup mogul, and international style icon — leaving the world gawking at her magazine covers and forever anticipating her next red carpet look.

Of course, we’d love to pick her brain on everything from music to makeup. But, we’d also like to get a peek inside her closet, too. Over the years, we’ve watched her style evolve and kept a close eye on the (dozens of) gorgeous wristwatches she’s sported. Here, we’re going to show you just a few of our favorites.

Rihanna with a Gold Piaget

‘Take A Bow’ Watch: Men’s Yellow Gold Piaget Polo

Back in 2008 Rihanna was at the beginning of her career but as hot as ever. While the entire world was mesmerized by her video ‘Take a Bow,’ watch enthusiasts and the press were all talking about the range of 18k gold Piaget watches she sported throughout the video. The fan-favorite and most prominent piece was the yellow gold Piaget Polo.

Considered Piaget’s most celebrated timepiece, it was quite iconic to have Rihanna wearing and glancing at the piece throughout the video — further catapulting the watch into the limelight. And it’s not hard to see why, as the look of this watch is simply stunning with that shimmering gold frame and bracelet popping against the milky-white face — with large gold Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9 and line hour markers to match. The watch is also self-winding with a wonderful date window at 6 o’clock.

We also have to note that while this is a mens watch, it looks elegant as ever on Rihanna, further proving that women can and should consider styling mens watches into their own wardrobe.

Her Classic Watch: The Rolex Ladies DateJust

It’s no surprise Rihanna owns an impressive collection of Rolex watches. And while we’ve seen her sport everything from a superstar Daytona to an iconic Day-Date, we often see her wearing a two-toned yellow gold and steel 36mm Ladies Datejust.

This is an incredible piece, combining a champagne face with a gold bezel and shimmering diamond hour markers to an otherwise understated piece. As a woman who is known for being fashion-forward and trend setting, it’s refreshing to see such a classic piece transition seamlessly as her style evolves. With an automatic movement, Oyster case, screw down crown and water resistance up to 330 feet, it’s sure that this watch will last her forever, too.

Fit For an Icon: Yellow Gold Rolex President

Rihanna 2020? It doesn’t seem out of the question when you see her sporting the regal watch worn by presidents, dignitaries and celebrities alike. This 18k gold Rolex President is just as iconic as the artist and businesswoman herself. And although this 36mm timepiece is officially a mans watch, the oversized look absolutely works here. Let’s be honest though, she can pull anything off.

This watch will last Rihanna a lifetime — the gold frame, bracelet and face transcending time while the day at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock will help her keep it. The Oyster case will keep also it dry up to 330 feet as she splashes on exotic coastlines, and it’ll run smoothly with that 3055 automatic movement.
