Although it is larger than the traditional 36mm model, ref. 228238 was not the first Day-Date to sport a bigger case. The 41mm option came to market in 2008 and has since been discontinued, making way for the 40mm ref. 228238 that you see here today. The Day-Date also utilizes a process that involves screwing the case back, bezel, and Twinlock screw-down crown into the Monobloc middle case for waterproofness up to 330 feet.
