Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref 16760 (1987) is an important Rolex for many reasons. First, it was the inaugural GMT Master II and the first to sport an independent GMT hand. At the time, the trailblazing caliber 3085 was quite robust and required a thicker case to house it. As a result, ref. 16760 picked up a few intriguing nicknames, including Sophia Loren and the Fat Lady. Ref. 16760 was also the first Rolex GMT to display the time with white gold applied hour markers filled with lume and introduced the series to the now-iconic red and black Rolex Coke bezel. During its short production run, the series was only ever produced with this type of bezel and in stainless steel.
