Rolex invented the Oyster case in 1926, naming it after its ability to protect the movement from water damage and dust via a process of screwing the case back, bezel, and crown into the middle case. Boasting a depth rating of up to 100 meters, timepieces that utilize an Oyster case hold their value incredibly well. The vintage Oyster Perpetual ref. 1005 utilizes the Oyster case as well as a perpetual movement with automatic winding technology. Classic dress watch style is present in the form of a 34mm stainless steel case topped with a yellow gold fluted bezel and a matching champagne dial adorned with yellow gold. As an older preowned Rolex, the case itself may have lost some of its waterproofness but it maintains a precise reading.
