This reference 4411 is in overall good, honest vintage condition. The case is in great condition with fine scratches and light wear throughout. The caseback still shows its original circular polishing with some lighter scratches from years of wear. The teardrop-esque shaped lugs have remained in beautiful condition. The dial has developed a spotted patina throughout that can be seen when the dial catches the light, there is a scratch around the 7 o'clock. The hour markers and perlé, or outer dots on the edge of the dial, show some light patina around their borders. There is no lume on the dial or hands but there is an even patina throughout each of these surfaces. The blue on the needle-like seconds hand shows the most amount of patina but this is only noticeable with higher magnification and catching the light at the right angles. This comes equipped with a 17mm leather strap and matching gold-tone tang buckle.
This vintage Rolex reference 4411 comes from a different era of the company where thinner dress watches with bold styling sprouted up in their catalogues. These styles were more popular during the 1940s and 50s, just a few decades shy of the ever-growing sports watch trend which we still see going strong to this day. Even though design preferences change over the years, the importance of accuracy has not. Most of these watches survive without their paperwork or boxes but this example has its original paperwork and shows it getting its Chronometer testing in the mid part of December 1945, just 10 days before Christmas eve and a few months after the bombs stopped falling in Europe. Seeing these watches are getting close to being a century old, mins two decades, finding nice examples is becoming harder and harder as time marches on. Here is a good opportunity to own a piece of fairly unique Rolex and horology history with the paperwork to back it up.
