Vintage Watch Condition Examination:
This Rolex watch is in great and honest vintage condition. The case has normal signs of wear. The matte dial is in great condition and has developed some patina around the edge. The lume on the dial and in the hands have aged to a matching beautiful creamy pale yellow color. The folded Oyster bracelet is in great condition with normal wear and a bit of stretch between the links which is common for this style bracelet.
Description: Vintage Rolex Explorer 1016
Rolex introduced the 1016 Explorer in 1959 and it was in production until 1989 making it one of the longest running produced references from the brand. At the beginning of the run Rolex made the dials glossy and then switched to the matte style around 1966. This example is circa 1967 and features a matte Mark 1 "frog foot" dial. This mark gets the fun nickname because of the coronet on the dial and how it looks like a frog's foot. This 1016 is a lovely example and has that quintessential vintage look and feel with the perfectly aged pale yellow lume and folded Oyster bracelet.
