This Rolex Explorer II watch is in great, honest vintage condition. The case is in great condition with normal signs of wear with scratches and some nicks throughout. Between the lugs show some wear and the numbers are visible. The inside caseback is stamped " II.72 1655." The bezel is in great condition with normal signs of wear; the paint has been re-applied to the numbers. The dial is in great condition and has developed some patina; the edge of the dial shows some wear. The dial has a small circular ring near the nine o'clock, this can be hard to notice. The lume on the dial and in the hands has developed patina and aged to a striking yellow color. The orange 24 hour hand has developed some wear and shows some paint loss; otherwise the color has remained vibrant. This has a 7836 folded Oyster bracelet with no. 380 end links and 13 links. The clasp is not dated which makes sense for the 1973 production of the watch; it also has a slight indentation. The bracelet is in overall good condition with normal signs of wear and a bit of stretch between the links which is not uncommon for this style bracelet.
The Rolex 1655 Explorer is instantly recognizable by its distinctive bright orange 24-hour hand and fixed steel bezel. Introduced in 1971, this model was designed specifically for cave explorers. This 1655 features a "straight" seconds hand which is only found on the earlier examples. This small detail really changes the look of the watch and is sought after by collectors. We love how the lume has all aged to a lovely striking yellow color and it gives the watch some serious character.
