By Paul Altieri,
The Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 1665 is a reference prized by collectors. The Sea-Dweller was developed for use by professional deep-sea divers, particularly with its inclusion of a "Helium Escape Valve" or "HEV" on the 9 o'clock side of the case to help the watch survive decompression from dry, pressurized environments. The earliest Sea-Dweller examples had red printing and are called "Single Red" or "Double Red" due to the one or two-lines of red text on the dial, but this example is a later model featuring Sea-Dweller in white as well as only four lines of printing above six-o'clock instead of the five lines of printing found on its predecessors models. These Sea-Dweller reference 1665 models are especially valued due to their beefier cases that fit modern tastes for larger watches.
