This GMT-Master is in great, attractive vintage condition. The case is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The inside caseback is stamped "1675" and "I.70". Serial and reference numbers are visible between the lugs. The blue-back, later bezel is in overall great condition with normal signs of wear. The red portion has faded to an attractive pink color and the blue has remained vibrant. The matte black dial is overall great, attractive condition with light patina. When looking closely the dial has a fine textured patina throughout that can be hard to notice. The lume on the dial has developed patina and aged to a very pale yellow/ creamy color. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands aged lighter than the lume on the dial. This watch has a stainless steel 78360 Oyster bracelet with 14 links and 580 end links. The clasp is stamped "PJ4" which corresponds to 2008. The bracelet is in overall good condition with normal wear and light stretch between the links.
The GMT Master is Rolex’s signature pilot’s watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It’s one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because it’s instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. Rolex initially used glossy dials in the 1675 until around 1966 and switched to matte dials, like this example.
This circa 1971 "Pepsi" GMT has a Mark I matte dial and collectors refer to this dial variation as a Mark I "Long E." When looking at the "Rolex" text on the dial the "E" has a longer central bar (same length as the top and bottom ones) and that is where this nickname comes from.

I have worn this watch everyday for 47 years, had it cleaned every 8 or so years, had the bezel replaced with the new one back in the 80s. Paid $400 in Switzerland in 1970. This is the greatest lifetime deal ever!!
