Introduced in 2016, this reference was among the first Big Pilot models to pair the collection's oversized aviation-inspired case with IWC's then-new annual calendar movement, following closely behind the Le Petit Prince edition. The result is a watch that combines the commanding presence collectors expect from a Big Pilot with a surprisingly sophisticated calendar display. At 47mm, there's no mistaking this watch for anything else. The large steel case stays true to the Big Pilot's roots as a cockpit instrument, while the grey sunray dial adds a more refined and contemporary character. The annual calendar display dominates the upper portion of the dial, with three windows beneath 12 o'clock indicating the month, date, and day of the week. Unlike a standard calendar watch, an annual calendar automatically accounts for months with 30 and 31 days, requiring adjustment only once per year at the end of February. It's a complication that adds genuine everyday convenience without the complexity of a perpetual calendar. Balancing the dial are a small seconds register at 9 o'clock and a power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock.
