Pre-owned IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN “Woodland” ref. IW389106 (2023) takes IWC’s long history with ceramic cases in a much more colorful direction. Ceramic has been closely associated with the TOP GUN collection since its debut in 2007, although for years the material was primarily rendered in stealthy black. More recently, IWC began experimenting with military-inspired colors, including the sand-colored “Mojave Desert” and the deep green “Woodland” for sale here. Despite the name, this is a robust 44.5mm Pilot’s Watch Chronograph, with its case rendered in matte green ceramic and the crown, pushers, and caseback made from IWC’s lightweight, scratch-resistant Ceratanium. The dial continues the monochromatic theme in matching green, contrasted by large Arabic numerals, luminescent hands, three chronograph registers, and a day-date display at 3 o’clock. Even the rubber strap incorporates a green textile inlay. Inside is IWC’s self-winding caliber 69380, a column-wheel chronograph movement protected by a soft-iron inner case against magnetic fields. Production is capped at 1,000 watches annually, making the Woodland a particularly interesting take on IWC’s traditionally utilitarian pilot’s watch.
