Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona

There’s a list of watches to watch out for and there’s a list of watches to really watch out. Only because they are so highly coveted. The Rolex Daytona 116500 is that watch. An update to the iconic Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona to be precise. That’s right, the original racing watch introduced in the 1960s to help drivers time their laps was given a modern overhaul. This overhaul made it the most talked about watch of 2016.

Considering how Rolex 24 Daytona was just last weekend there are a lot of eyes on this watch.

Rolex Daytona ref. 116500 is a hot watch on the market right now.

For starters, it’s extremely rare because there’s a limited number available. As anyone who took a basic economics class will know, if you keep the supply low the demand will be very high. With that said, you most likely want this watch even more now. Considering if you were able to get your hands on one you’d easily be able to flip a stainless steel Rolex Daytona for a cool $5,000 over retail value.

Accuracy is Beauty: Daytona 116500

Rolex is no stranger when it comes to creating a buzz about its watches. So let’s take a closer look at why this particular watch is so special. It’s an even more accurate timepiece than before, for starters. The chronograph movement +2/-2 seconds per day is twice the accuracy required for a COSC certification. Without a shred of doubt, it’s nearly flawless execution makes it the one of the most sought-after watch models in the industry.

The black ceramic bezel makes it scratch resistant.

But the big news driving the buzz is the new watch’s bezel — new with Cerachrom. Basically, it’s a one-piece ceramic piece, through physical vapor deposition, has given the numerals on the bezel’s tachymeter scale a platinum finish for visibility. The addition of ceramic makes it scratch-resistant so it won’t fade when pounded with UV light. The Daytona also features two new dial options: a white dial with black accents on the sub dial and a black dial with silver accents.

At the end of the day, the Daytona is the hottest watch that money can’t buy. Or at least, you’ll have to get in line and wait for a bit before you can buy it.
