Discover The Yachtmaster Rolex

The iconic and emblematic Rolex Yacht-Master is the newest of the Rolex released in 1992 in 18k yellow gold. This timepiece symbolizes the tie between Rolex and the luxurious yachting lifestyle of the 1950s. Rolex embedded a variety of new features in the latest Rolex Yachtmaster II including a bidirectional rotatable bezel, a triplock winding crown that triples its waterproofing ability, and a parachrom oscillator hairspring which increases the watch's accuracy by making it resistant against magnetic fields and shocks. This regata chronograph features the world's first programmable mechanical countdown with precision reminiscent of the start of a yacht race.

At Bob's Watches, you are able to purchase these pre-owned Yacht-Masters for sale in either mid-size or full-size, as well in stainless steel, platinum or gold. The Yacht-Master is often referred to as a more versatile luxury version of the Rolex Submariner, serving both ladies and gents in the finest metals and intriguing design. The used Rolex Yacht-Master is one of the few Rolex models to offer a watch in the stainless steel and platinum combination.

Rolex Yacht-Master – The Luxury Mariner Watch

In the 1990s Rolex had a very fine selection of watch models from the versatile Rolex Submariner to the classic DateJust, but they hadn’t introduced a new model in quite a while. At this point the Submariner and Sea-Dweller models had become extremely popular with the public even among those who didn’t dive and only used it to go a fraction of the depth it was built for. In this light the Rolex Yacht-Master was conceived by Rolex. It was basically meant as a luxury version of the Submariner, not able to go to the extreme depths available to wearers of the Submariner, but still able to hold its own in the water and be much more of a luxury watch made out of more precious metals (similar to the President or Day-Date).

The first Yacht-Master was introduced in 1992 and was all 18k gold made for men at 40mm. This watch received a frenzy of popularity selling out quickly and producing large waiting lists. This watch was also fitted with a triple lock crown similar to those on the Sea-Dweller and Submariner, but it could only reach depths of 100m. In 1994 two smaller versions of the watch were introduced for ladies and men with smaller wrists also in all 18k gold. In 1999, the Rolex Yacht-Master really hit its stride with the release of the Rolesium version of the watch which is Rolex’s term for the combination of Stainless Steel and Platinum. This watch was immediately released with the normal, midrange, and ladies versions and became an instant success with huge demand causing the watch to be almost impossible to get with wait lists reaching years in duration. Finally more recently, in 2005, Rolex released the Two-Tone Stainless Steel and Gold version of the watch. The Yacht-Master is not as popular with Rolex collectors due to the fact that it is less utilitarian than the other Rolex models like the GMT and Submariner and so it is easy to find a used version at a great price!
