The pre-owned Rolex Datejust OysterQuartz ref. 17013 (1983) was developed during a curious era in Rolex history when affordable quartz watches threatened to topple the Swiss watchmaking industry. To remain competitive, Rolex, the master of mechanical wristwatches, developed its own collection of quartz-powered timepieces, complete with an in-house movement and that familiar Rolex design language. The ref. 17013 was one of those watches, becoming what the brand would call the Rolex Oysterquartz. This model featured the caliber 5035 quartz movement and a classy two-tone finish. It still features Rolex's famous waterproof Oyster case, surrounded by a fluted bezel, but is paired with an integrated bracelet to set it apart from its mechanical counterparts.
